Bridgestone RE01R - So crap

Postby digi » Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:33 pm

Had a flapping noise a few days ago, thought it was my roof rail as the ends were spring up. After fixing that the flapping noise was still present (happens only after 60km/h). Took the car to my regular garage and the horror (inside tire wall):

I mean how the f%^& can a tire loose a part of the side wall.

Changed to AD08, will see how they hold up. Totally pissed with these Bridgestones'. Heard RE11 no better!

For the record, little to no spirited driving, just regular to and fro work with light traffic.

bloody joke.

Plenty of tread and this still happens. Will need to replace the front set for peace of mind.

yes, got them with the car. Previous owner had them fitted for a very short time only.

Apparently, this happens to the RE01R and RE11 after 2 years. Nuts if u ask me.

Lucky indeed becoz I did not see to it until 4 days after the noise appeared. :?

Initially I thought it was my roof rail, so I whipped up a little epoxy to secure the roof rails. That did not make the noise go away, then I checked the wheel well, has one plastic rivet missing so fixed that and still had the noise. Took it to my garage and thought maybe had some stupid thing loose inside the bumper. Garage called and I was totally not expecting a broken side wall on the tire

You sure that is the case with all RE01R and RE11?

my friend owns a tire shop and he said this is quite common for RE01R and RE11. After 2 yrs he say the tire starts to decompose. How accurate that is I have no idea.
