haven't had time to check if all the Big / little letters are correct but it's plugged in and searching for boogies.

I'll bring to next SMD and maybe you can help me set correctly?!? 8)

Anyone want to buy an Escort Radar Detector Direct Hard Wire Kit?

While I was waiting for it to arrive from the States, I got impatient and completed a DIY job on my C2S.

Hence the Kit (due to arrive in one week) is now up for sale at just HK$100. (The shipping charge alone costed me US$15!). For more info--

http://www.4bestbargains.com/servlet/Detail?no=230

Hardwiring instructions come with the Kit.

Please PM me if interested.

Sorry OT... did you sell the M3 in the end? Which C2S do you have now?

The M3 was sold to a Singaporean guy earlier this year.

It's a 997 Carrera S with manual gearbox.

The new gearbox is such a joy to shift. After several years of SMG shifting, it brings back memories of the air-
cooled Carrera 3.2.

The performance of course is quite different la. The delivery of torque/power is so direct and immediate. :P

Just before the P-car entered the short tunnel (in Tai Wai, Shatin) leading to the Shatin Height Tunnel at 青沙公路 (Tsing Sha Highway) the X50 woke up and screamed like crazy. Immediately spotted beside the inside lane were two laser gun operators; their motorbike colleague waited eagerly beside the fast lane, ever so ready to pounce. The latter followed P-car into the tunnel, probably thinking that it must have been burnt. Yet to his disappointment, his colleagues told him otherwise. Eventually he pulled over at the road-block at the exit of the Shatin Height Tunnel (near the pay booths) and joined his colleagues.

That was close!

So glad the X50 still works! no need to switch to V1 yet.

So....... brothers and sisters, stay alert when you happen to use that route one day.

Remember: The Tsing Sha Highway and its Tunnels are great but the real danger lies at their entrance/exits. (I guess by now you are probably aware of the tools planted inside the tunnels.....the one inside the Eagle's Nest is always cooking)

hi, condor, what color is your 997 C2S manual?

there are three manual 997s within our group already, now you are the 4th. check out the latest SMD photos, you will see us in there.

bring out your 997 next time and let's gather. it would be interesting to see FOUR manual 997s meeting each other!

Just got back from Beijing....by plane of course.

Mine is white with factory aero-kit.

It seems Europipe is the right choice but does it diminish the baritone burble of the factory exhaust sound? :?:

I've been told that the V1 is way too sensitive....lots of false alarm. Is that true?

The most notorious V1 false alarm in HK is with laser detection detecting Nissan Elgrands. It's something you just have to get used to, unless you disable laser detection completely which some people choose to do. This is because your speed would have been clocked anyway as soon as laser hits your car. The rare exception is when laser hits a nearby car and you're lucky enough to pick up the resultant scatter.

Otherwise, the Ka band radar detection is reasonably reliable and usable. I'd say it falses only 10% of the time and such falses are usually very momentary.

But if you turn on K band radar also to detect the latest generation of cameras (which isn't actually too useful because these latest radar signals seem rather weak to facilitate early detection), then false alarm incidences will increase particularly in urban areas.

Thanks a lot hkz4 for your tips..very informative indeed.

It seems that the usefulness of radar detectors is diminishing be it V1 or Escort 9500i.

At least for the Escort, you get a reading of the voltage of car battery :P

I went through the setting with my V1, could not get the big U but u all the time.

I did it once but I can't remember how to restore it.

Any expert advice?
